Center for Reliable Energy Systems

History

CRES, Center for Reliable Energy Systems, was founded by Dr. Yong-Yi Wang in June 2007.

At its founding, a major focus of CRES’ work was on strain-based design and welding of high strength linepipe steels.  CRES has since expanded to all phases of energy infrastructure, covering design, materials, construction, and maintenance and integrity management.  We use advanced computational methods and purposely design experimental techniques to solve unique and challenging problems.  We collaborate extensively with national research centers, energy companies and their suppliers, and test labs.
