Positions in Mechanical, Materials, and Structural Engineering
CRES is looking for highly motivated individuals to fill multiple immediate openings in mechanical, materials, and software engineering. The positions are open to all relevant engineering disciplines at preferably MS or PhD level.

Position Summary
Engineers in this position will be performing computational modeling/analysis and mechanical testing of energy systems, such as pipelines, and preparing technical reports and papers. The engineer will work closely with fellow team members and the project lead throughout the full lifecycle of a project, including scope definition, proposal preparation, work planning and execution, deliverable preparation, and communication with clients.
Major Responsibilities
- Performing finite element modeling and analysis for energy systems under complex operational and environmental loadings
- Leading and/or interacting with mechanical test programs and individuals responsible for test programs; interpreting and utilizing test results
- Developing predicative models for component integrity using a combination of analytical and numerical tools
- Implementing predicative models in software formats for client deployment
- Presenting updates on technical tasks in internal discussions and client meetings
- Collaborating and coordinating seamlessly with cross-disciplinary project teams and/or clients, refining complex technical information into accessible, compelling narratives
- Fostering an including, collaborative environment within the team and organization
- Drafting or assisting in the drafting of technical reports and papers for clients, conferences, and journal publications
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in material, mechanical, civil, or aerospace engineering with three years’ experience; Master’s or PhD degree is highly preferred
- Solid foundation in the following subject areas
- Solid mechanics
- Fracture mechanics
- Material degradation and failure
- Familiarity with at least one commercial finite element analysis (FEA) package
- Familiarity with mechanical testing
- Excellent communication skills, familiarity with oral presentation and technical writing
Desirable Skills
- Project management including scheduling, budgeting, scoping, and communication
- Knowledge or project experience in any of the following subject areas:
- Metallurgy
- Welding
- Computational mechanics
- Soil mechanics
- Non-destructive examination
- Pipeline in-line inspection
- Familiarity with finite element meshing algorithms
- Exposure to with Fortran, C++ and Python development
Desirable Traits
- Enthusiastic about taking on new subject areas
- Good work attitude, able to work in a team environment
- Passionate about mechanistic understanding of engineering problems
- Leadership and team building experience
- Takes initiative in improving established workflow or processes, e.g., task automation.
