Material Specification and Selection
The mechanical properties of linepipes and welds have far greater influence in SBD than in traditional stress-based design. The material specifications in the commonly accepted standards tend to have broad ranges to accommodate a wide variety of linepipe steel and pipe manufacture processes. Company- and project-specific specifications are needed to achieve balanced strain capacity, construction efficiency, and overall long-term integrity of the pipelines.
CRES considers all salient factors in material specifications for SBD, including, but not limited to, project need, legal and code requirements, manufacturing feasibility, cost, welding, and maintenance.
